The 2025 growing season started with a relatively dry winter but a cooler and wetter spring, which led to very even moderate crop levels. Ripening during a mild and dry summer led to great intensity of fruit flavour with perfect natural acidity for balance and flavour persistence.

We have sourced the Pinot Gris from Mount Barker and Frankland River sub-regions and the Riesling is from the Porongurup subregion in the Great Southern. The cooler southern regions provide chilled nights and continentality being perfect for these Alsatian varieties.

All components were pressed individually and pressings fractions separated. We barrel fermented all pressings fractions as well as the Pinot Gris free run in old 500L puncheons to add texture and volume. The free run components were fermented in tank. After 4 months on lees in both tank and barrel, the various components were reassembled.

The 2025 Bizarre Love Triangle is a Pinot Gris first and foremost: wet granite/slate and nashi pears, subtle white flowers and regional oyster shell minerality. The palate is tight yet fleshy with melon/pear notes and hints of anise, the vintage showing with the fine acid line and medium weight. Long pear and seashell notes on finish. Serve just below room temperature for best results. Especially smashing at sunset.
